Employment at-will
In consideration of maintaining and continuing employment with
Powerful Women of Praise (PWOP), all employees, temporary
employees, interns, and volunteers understand and agree that they
are employees at-will, meaning that they have the right to terminate
their employment at any time with or without cause and with or without
notice and that PWOP likewise has the right to terminate their
employment at any time with or without cause and with or without
notice. In connection with the at-will nature of the employment
relationship, there are no other agreements of any type. Specifically,
there are no expressed, implied, written, oral or collateral agreements
which in any way alter the at-will nature of the employment
relationship. In addition, as to the issue of the employment
relationship, the at-will agreement constitutes the entire agreement
between PWOP and the employee superseding all prior agreements.
The only way that this at-will employment agreement can be modified
is in an express written agreement approved by the Board, signed by
the Executive Director (or senior management designee) and the
particular employee affected. No other individual employed by PWOP,
either expressly or implied or by conduct, is authorized to take any
action which in any way modifies the at-will nature of the employment
relationship.
The responsibility of administering the recruitment and staffing
process is assigned to the Executive Director. Prior to formal
employment by the board, a prospective staff member shall present
necessary documents which establish eligibility to work and attest to
his/her eligibility. All staff members selected for employment shall be
recommended by the Executive Director (or senior management
designee). Staff members must receive an affirmative vote from a
majority of all members of the Board. In the event, an authorized
position must be filled before the Board can take action, the Executive
Director has the authority to fill the position with a temporary (interim)
employee. The Board will act on the Executive Director’s
recommendation to fill the vacancy at its next regular board meeting.
Recruitment and Selection of Staff
Recruiting and hiring of staff shall be under the direction of the
Executive Director. Staff openings shall include a job description with
required qualifications, education, experience, and certification
requirements, where applicable. The Executive Director shall be
responsible for recommending new or additional positions within
budget parameters (if applicable) established by the board. The
Board shall have the final authority to approve the names of
recommended candidates for all positions. All pre-employment
screening and background checks shall be conducted in accordance
with applicable laws. All applicants will be required to complete an
application form, answer supplemental questions and submit results
of a spiritual gift test/inventory.
