Book Club Guidelines
How many people will be admitted to the book club?
There is not a minimum or maximum number of members required. Enrollment will remain open as long as
meetings run efficiently and effectively.
Are there age or gender restrictions?
There are no restrictions with regards to age, however this group is for females.
How often will we meet, where and for how long?
This book club meets two Fridays each month at 6:00 p.m. at alternating members’ homes (unless an
outside venue has been agreed upon by all of the members). Members will host the book clubs at their
house for an entire month and provide food/beverage for those attending.
How many chapters do we plan to read between, and discuss at, each meeting?
One chapter will be selected for discussion at each meeting. It is required that group members read the
chapter prior to the meeting to be prepared for discussion.
How will future titles be selected?
Books will be recommended by members, and the group will decide through common consensus the books
that will be read and discussed. Many of the participants are involved in the life and work of the church, but
books will not be limited to any one subject area like religion however books chosen should assist members
in uplifting and improving their lives. Books will be chosen based on the interests of the members of the Club.
It is our hope that we will not only benefit from reading a wide variety of books but gain much in knowledge
and fellowship as we discuss them together.
How will the meetings be run - will there be a consistent facilitator, rotate the job or allow free
interjections by all?
Marcella Tarpley will act as the facilitator and maintain session notes; however, all members are free to
interject at will. The only requirement is that appropriate words & language are used at all times.
How to contact each other between meetings?
A membership rooster will be maintained and given to each member, so that they are able to contact each
other outside of meetings. Messages and updates regarding the book club will be sent out via email.

There are two levels of membership that provide added benefits. However dues are not currently mandatory to
participate.
